Maybe...HERE is the just released list of TV stations that have either been completely bought out and will leave the air permanently, or will be moving back to VHF. Those numbers on the right of each column are in $$Millions, lots of them hundreds of millions. Thats allot of stations going dark..Something I have been complaining about for years and gotten lots or argument on (geee, on this forum?) is the complete lack of performance of the Jack antenna, and unfortunately probably the recent offering from Winegard as well. Once again as VHF both High & Low are being revived, the Batwing is still the best RV antenna out there properly designed to receive VHF.

Wow and just Wow! If the station is going off the air but moving to VHF does that mean some other station bought it and will move their transmission to the freq?

Those going 10-7 are essentially selling their license off forever. Those going to VHF are choosing to do so with a lesser incentive but they get to stay on the air. The vacated spectrum has been sold off to various wireless companies that are financing this party.The station facilities (different from the transmission facilities) that continue to exist will be paring up on the channels that remain, i.e. CBS Las Vegas sells off their license. They in turn will pair up with ABC and appear as a "dot" on that channel. Allot of those agreements are already done. This will mean the end of 1080i programming for allot of stations as its allot more profitable to broadcast several 720 streams vs. one or two 1080 streams on a single channel. I personally don't like it, but I'm not a bean counter.

They appear to be all secondary stations not affiliated with the major networks and some are low power stations that are very do not cover their assigned area well. I think of the Syracuse station which you can only get in part of Syracuse

Most network stations in the US are affiliates, O&O's are only in the largest cities, and even they are often for sale. Additionally those "secondary" stations carry a TON of cable/ satellite channels as well. I dont care about all the religious and some of the PBS stations, but a good number of them are leasing their bandwidth out to these additional streams. ION, Grit, Escape, Bounce, GeTV, Antenna Net, etc. are a very small selection of movie channels, often owned by the studios that air their owned movies. Sony has one too, and they ALL are on these "dot" channels.
