Just how much damage will I do to my speakers or DVD
How bad is it to hook a surround sound receiver that came with 3 ohm speakers to the 6 ohm speakers that are built into my MH?

Twice as much impedance (3 vs 6) means half as much current will flow so less power available. Whether the sound output is lower volume or not depends on the efficiency of the speakers.
For the most part, you should be fine but your amplifier will need to work harder.
