Laptop battery charger?

Dell laptop Inspiron a year or so old, but upgrades in HD and it works great, don't want to buy another laptop ...

The charging connector on the side where you plug in the cord from the 110v has little flat pins inside. The pins move around a little and lose connection frequently, and then it doesn't charge the battery properly. AND, when it's not in direct contact, the 110v doesn't work either. I'm absolutely positive it's the contact pins because when it fails, I use a blade and push the pins in alignment and it works every time ...

I bought a new cord first, but it's not the cord, it has the same charging issues with new and old cord.

Two things, first, eventually this will either break the pin off, or bend it so it won't work. Two, I don't care if it uses 110v as long as the battery works. But it won't charge the battery.

I can take this in, wait a week or so, and pick it up with new port.

I can buy another battery and a laptop battery charger and simply switch batteries.

I don't want to hang around a week extra, and wait, so would buy a external battery charger and extra battery, and use it on the road anyway. SO, that would be my choice if I can find a battery charger.

SO, what do I buy and where? Would be nice to have two batteries when on the road anyway.

Have always believed the connectors on a laptop should be better, and some kind of solid clip instead of 'slip on' for this very reason.
