lcd tv mount

I have a 5th wheel with space for a tube type tv and want to mount a flat screen in that hole. Anybody have any good ideas or pictures? I am sure I could set one there but it would be nice to have it mounted for traveling.
  • Sometimes their can be different options.
We were going to replaced our overhead tube tv with a new LED, but instead made it into a cabinet. Now we have our new 47 in. Led TV on a slide next to the dinette set. For us it worked out better because we can view the tv from every seat in the motorhome without a getting a sore neck.

  • Today's LED tvs are so light and take so little depth that it is not necessary to mount them in the original cabinet designed for the old CRT TVs. Think outside the cabinet, there may be many more desirable locations than the old cabinet. Then you will have the cabinet available for storage.
  • Our Class C came with a 13" TV and a video tape player, both mounted on a slide in an overhead cabinet. I was able to fit a 26" flat panel TV into the same cabinet space by using a fully articulating arm as seen in the pictures below.

I made a wood frame for the panel of the original roll up door to match the rest of the wood trim.

Our TV is mounted in this manner and here's how it is attached:

  • I replaced a tube type TV in my 5er. I ended up removing a frame that was around the TV and built a shelf for a new flat screen. I mounted it by drilling 2 holes through the TV's base and bolting it to the shelf. I added a angle across 2 of the mounting holes on the back of the TV and then ran a strap from the angle to the corner. It travels great.

I had about a 3" space between the old bottom and the new shelf. I added a vertical support in the middle and mounted a radio and DVD player on each side. I found a matching piece of paneling and cut holes for radio and DVD faces to fit through. It looks like it was built that way at the factory.

It is very hard to access the back as the TV fills the opening. I took some pics of all the TV connections and stored them on my laptop. I can look at the pics and feel for matching connection when I have to change any hookups. Worst case is removing a couple of bolts.
  • Our old 27" analog TV was in an angled cabinet.
I pulled it out and made a new cabinet door then mounted a slimline 32" LED/LCD TV on the front of cabinet door using a typical flat panel wall mount. Drilled hole thru front center of cabinet door below mount to route power cable and a 3" slot on right side to run audio/video/coax cables. TV hides all cables and they are secured along inside edge of cabinet with enough slack to fully open door.

Now we have a large storage cabinet plus a 32" TV

We have some thick dense foam that we wedge behind TV for travel.
