But I prefer the term Global Climate Change
Colder and wetter in Europe and Eastern USA
Dryer in the west and Midwest
Flooding in Australia

Human kind might be a factor in speeding up the change
But nature and weather have always been changing, since time immemorial

Now back to the topic of light bulbs

I replaced one of those 60W equivalent small spiral CFLs which was 18W with an 11W LED, $15 that looks like this:



Note that this bulb is actually slightly smaller than a 60W incandescent bulb.

Now I see they are $12:

The three way CFL we have is rated at 12W-23W-29W, however it is probably a 30W-70W-100W equivalent. I have a 150W equivalent CFL and it is 42W. If the 11W LED scaled a 50W-100W-150W LED equivalent would be 9W-18W-27W.

I'm glad the incandescent lights are going away, good riddance. Too much heat and last only 2000 hours. Constant change is a fact of life, and the US makes the most money on recent innovation. I never liked CFL lights particularly, they only can survive a certain number of on/off cycles and their spiral appearance is not good.

LEDs however are much better and the prices are dropping. The first gen Philips 12.5W (60W equivalent light output) was around $25 a year ago and the 2nd gen 11W (60W) are now $15. Dimmable capability is much better than CFL.

I bought a few boxes of 60W incandescent lights thinking I would need them for heating purposes such a clip lamp in the wet bay or to keep the hummingbird feeder from freezing in cold weather, but was a waste of money. I could have just waited and bought 72W halogens (100W light output).

Incandescent lamps of a specificed wattage range are to be made no more as I understand it, But outside that range (Which would include Christmas tree lamps and 150 watt lamps, in fact I think 100 is the upper limit so some enterprising person is for sure going to make a 101 watt lamp) are going to still be out there.

The restriction makes sense... And most of the arguments against it are hot air, nothing more.. But to the o/p. at least learn how to spell it. When you do it the way you did it your credibility heads straight to the black tank.

better go on a boat trip to check on global warming but you might get stuck in the ice.

of course there is no longer any debate among climate scientists as this is their bread and butter. are those the same scientists who a few years back were fussing about global cooling.
and yes there is always cyclical climate change. Oh, and the buzz words climate change has taken over global warming. :)
