Another Libre user here. Got it from Amazon for $11 as I wanted the disc..However, I believe it can be downloaded for free. It works great on our new Windows 10 desktop.

I have kept all the tracking options off in our Google accounts, since we started with them. The options have grown over the years as well as where they put them. I try to limit what they supposedly track on me, but as you know, it's their software ;)

Great apps, free except that Google knows all about me plus a timeline of where I've been. For me, that is an OK trade off. There are those that are not so trusting but it works for me. And Google's ecosystem includes cloud storage that, to me, is the world I want to live in with all of my stuff (1) available on all my devices and (2) fully backed up much better than I could do.

Some interesting rumblings on the Internet today about people being blocked from their Google Docs because Google read them and determined they violate the Terms of Service. Glad my PC doesn't render an opinion about what I write! :B

Seems like you're being a little defensive, but you are living up to the software owner's licensing that you agreed to.

Sorry, I didn't mean to single any single company out. I don't use any online backup service.

New versions are not necessarily better than old versions.
I just use my old Office 2003 disc and load it on the new computer. The key is on my disc. No limit to the number of loadings.
If some think there's something immoral or criminal about that, I don't really care. Microsoft has no problem with it.

Any Google document(s) can be flagged to be synced to all the user's devices meaning there are multiple copies on my devices. I have few documents that warrant that kind of backup, but I do use it for things that I want to have access to with no Internet access. When there is Internet access, things are re-synced automatically so any changes I make when offline are saved.

Not bad for backups, although I don't do that either.

That is why I shy away from Google. Not to mention that Clouds invite nefarious hackers to try for your data. It is bad enough keeping your computer safe, but relying on Google to do it for you is an invite and trophy for hackers.
