Looking to add TV

Hello all!
I have a mallard IDM245 travel trailer that I want to add TV to. It has a rotating entertainment zone that can be flipped between the bedroom and the rest of the rig. How am I supposed to mount the TV there? It's thin wood, am I supposed to just use screws and washers though it?
To power it, I plan to use a 400 W inverter connected to the batteries.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • I did indeed get it installed. It's very light so all I did was center the tv and bolt it through the thin rotating wall. I used large washers on the back of the wood. I just did a 3,500 mile trip and it was solid as ever with no evidence of issues.
And I ended up going with a small 160 watt inverter, it powers the tv well and doesn't seem to draw hard on the house batteries. The only issue is if I'm using it to watch tv and I turn on the furnace, AC or other high draw item - the tv turns off. I can turn it back on right after that so it doesn't really worry me.

    Thanks

You'll have a lot of extra capacity with 400w. I think my 32" draws 18w
  • Did you get your TV mounted? We have the same set up in our new trailer. I'm trying to figure out what to do will all that space on the back side..we don't have a mirror..don't want one either...it's screaming for some type of storage :)
  • Those flip panels between bedroom and living room are thin and hallow ... if they are framed at all. You should mount a backer board on one side, drill holes through everything and mount your TV mount to the backer board. Here again, drill holes all the way three both sides and then mount with bolts, washers, and locking nuts. The non TV side, use a bit of paint to color the ends so they are not so obvious.
  • X2 like above. Reinforce using a piece of plywood or chipboard. Try to get a few screws into something solid behind the paneling, use a stud finder, there will be something back there.
  • Hi there! This comes with an area for the TV, it's a rotating carousel so you can flip from one area to the other depending who's watching. Just not sure how to mount it to the thin board.

    Thanks!

  • Most people find studs, then fasten a large piece of plywood to the studs and instal a wall mount.
