Just purchased a new Vizio flat screen TV monitor and noticed I have to have the audio volume set to about 75% of max to get adequate sound levels. My old Toshiba had a lot of audio left at settings of about 35% of max.I have read reports that the newer flat screen monitors, since they are so thin and lightweight, have inferior audio circuitry and lesser quality speakers.Before I return the TV I would like to know if others have experienced the same issue.If this is normal, a sound bar may be in my future

If you will look up some of the reviews, this seems to be a problem with many of the Vizio TVs. We solved it by purchasing a cheap soundbar and placing it right under the TV. We have to have two remotes, but at least we can hear it.

We have 2 vizio tv's and generally have volume around 20 or so.+- the sound on ours is bottom edge. Make sure that you have not obstructed the speakers. fyi, we like our vizios.

Pretty normal, the 22" Insignia LED we bought for the trailer has 2 1.5x3" speakers facing backwards, it is louder behind the TV than in front of it. I just run the audio into the trailers stereo.

Don't know if the Vizio has it, but on our TV there was an option in sound settings for "wall mount". I selected that and it seemed to throw the sound forward rather than behind the tv.

Thanks for all the input. With the ultra thin bezel I'm sure the speakers are anywhere but the front. With that in mind I'll check into an sound bar.

Is there any possibility that I can find a sound bar that can be controlled by my Directv remote? I'd really like to eliminate a second remote since I've been controlling the TV and Directv receiver with one remote.

Any suggestions of brands that might work would be appreciated.

Go under audio and see if you happen to have surround sound turned on

Look in the menu for sound settings. Both my Visio and Samsung have different settings, like Standard, Movie, Music, etc. One of them might amplify the sound more.

Sony TV.. decent sound. Anything else, no. Get a sound bar.

We have a Vizio flat screen in our motorhome and the speaker is in front of the TV and it does make a difference. We do have a surround sound system, but prefer not to use it. It drives me nuts, LOL.

I don't have s Vizeo, but I ran an audio cable from our TV to our surround sound system. Much better sound than a TV can produce.

I run that on all my Tv's as well.. They have lowered the maximum audio output over the years due to a combination of concerns over high volume damaging hearing and high volume costing more to make.. Mostly the latter I suspect.

A 1 watt audio amp is way cheaper than a 10 watt which is cheaper than a 50 watt, which would give decent high quality sound.
