Map Update RV760lmt Failed

Question

I have a Garmin rv760lmt and tried my first map update tonight. When I started it said it would take approx. 2hr and 40min to load. It started the download and got about 1hr in and an error message popped up and it stopped the download. I tried it again and now it says it has 1hr and 3min left but then I get the error again. It does not tell what the error is only that one occurred. I did use up 2.5 gig so I must have gotten something. We are leaving on a trip in the morning so I am hoping I did not loose any of what I had with the old version.

Google hard reset to restore to factory defaults. You will loose all your settings favorites etc.Unless someone here has an alternativeFound it the link toGarmin web page on hard reset

Are you trying to use a wifi hot spot or are you downloading via high speed internet?It is going to need a high speed, at least DSL speed to get it to work.

When I tried to update mine it ran out of installed memory. I had to add a memory card to be able to get all the download....Fits in on the side and then just leave it in. I think I bought an 8GB card.......Mike

This is not uncommon. Make sure you have a strong internet connection and try it VERY late at night or VERY early in the morning when their servers are not so busy.

The good thing is that when you restart, it usually starts from where it quit, not from the beginning.
