Maps Alternative
A am very disappointing with Maps on 8.1 and am looking for an alternative. All I need is plain old Navigation without any social media add-ons. Any thoughts on a better navigation app?

- i think i was not very clear. Google Maps is what i am using. it sounds like i am just not using it right. i will do more experimenting.
- I have had issues with all of the GPS mapping software and devices. They all have their quirks.
Try Google maps from the app store. As Roy indicated hard to beat the Google mapping programs especially on a laptop or larger screen device.
On the flip side, I've used Apple Maps quite a lot lately and find it works fine for me. - There is no alternative to Google Maps...gold standard.

Wouldn't leave home without it...
We also use GOOGLE MAPS as well - Great tool for zooming down on campgrounds in EARTH VIEW and see exactly how it is laid out. Of course some place have too much tree cover to be very useful but means total shade hehe... When I have alot of time on my hands I have actually used GOOGLE STREET VIEW and gone down new to me ROADWAYs that I have am interested in. I also use GOOGLE MAPS to search for RV PARKS or CAMPGROUND along the routes...
Good use for my VERIZON MIFI UNIT to keep my WIFI tablets going when we are en route. 10-inch screens are much better than cell phone 2-inch screens.
Roy Ken - Have you taken a fresh look at Google maps? They've added an awful lot of new navigation features recently.
