DISPUTE the charge on your CC and get on with your life.
I don't buy with credit. Even my vehicles and RV were paid for with cash. For online purchases, I use a bank card -- not a credit card. Debits cannot be disputed.

ANd you do not have the protection against fraud. So my advice is to get a low limit CC and charge on that, then pay it off every month. Also since refunds can take up to 30 days to be refunded this makes you not have so much heartache as if refunded there is no interest charge.
By the way find out how long your bank has to refund your money if someone hacks your debit account it can be up to 90 days and you can be liable for a portion of the illegal activity. With a CC most offer no liability but the law is 50 bucks IIRC.
Paying cash and debit card is not always the right answer. SOmetimes the protections offered b alternate payment forms is good.
I give you the following scenario. You pull into a gas station. Someone has installed a skimmer and gets your CC number. They charge thousands of dollars on your account. You get the bill cll the CC company and after that it is their problem. If you use a debit card you can be waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for them to refund you the thousands and/or your account gets overdrawn so you bills start not getting paid affecting your credit rating and inducing late charges which you then have to fight from the companies that were not paid.
There is no shame in having a CC and paying it off each month it is the safest way to transact business o the net and specially with companies you do not know or trust.
Second scenario. You are on a trip and need work done by some company you do not know. You get home a few days later and your mechanic tells you all the work has to be redone as the other company screwed you royally. With a CC you dispute the charge and usually that is the end of it. With your debit card you are SOL
