McD's in Quartzsite

The two registers probably weren't working to force people to use the kiosks and phone order like you did. If they're successful they can get rid of a couple more workers.

And then they can lower their prices because they've lowered their overhead. And this Monday pigs will fly.

Good to know issues/problems prior to deciding on a Big Mac.

People are very slow to embrace anything new. Fine with me.

They have never used all the available registers in all the years I have visited that location. During the RV/Rock rallies there are lines to the far entry door and still only using 1 or 2 registers. Phone and kiosk's are the answer.
As an alternative I would use the drive-thru and then park and go inside to eat and refill.

Clearly it's somewhat clientele related, and how committed the company is in making it a success. I made several visits to a totally renovated Panera this winter. They now have 4 or 5 touchscreens located as you walk in the door, and every time I was there the touchscreens were heavily used, and most registers were empty. OTOH, I also made many trips to McDonalds during that timeframe, and I saw either unused, or non-functional kiosks, with signs indicating that they were out of order.

Oddly enough, the large, successful Wawa chain of convienence stores, located in the northeast and Florida, switched to 100% touchscreen ordering SIXTEEN years ago.

How come Americans don't call it Maccas like us Aussies do?

McD's wants people to use the robots (Kiosks) or phone app so they don't even have to pay workers.. If the store has 'em. I eat elsewhere. I like to deal with a HUMAN clerk.

I do too if I don't have to wait in a humongous line.

This McD's used to be a well-oiled machine with 3 clerks on almost all the time. Since changing hands it looks like they're having some problems.

That was my first thought, but it was close to 10:30 when other places shut down breakfast. I decided to give the app a try, remembering that it hasn't always worked so well. Sometimes it can't determine my location, and other times I've had to go to the counter and ask for my order, which they've seemed confused about.

Anyway, this time it worked great.
