Microsofts guaranteed new virus blocker

Just installed some new updates for Win7, and they blocked LAN and wireless connectivity. Had to take the tower to the office and pay the IT guy on the side to disable the problem software. It was something about ID shortcut, he didn't want to tell me too much. What fun those Microsoft guys are.

Ubntu is not the answer.. Nor is APPLE, here is why.

The O/P has a lot invested in Windows. Time, Knowledge perhaps even windows only programs, applications and hardware.. If he switches to a different operating system... He has a new system to learn, He has new stuff to buy and some programs may not be available on the new platform.

If you go to bed with dogs, there's a good chance you will wake up with fleas.

    The answer is Ubuntu.
  • There were no new updates since earlier this month. Check your past update list to see what failed to redo them. I have not seen any problem since a "Silverlight" update early after Windows7 introduction. That one was straightened out eventually.

For some computers it is better to not take automatic updating since problems can occur if using computer at the same time, or accidently shutting down during updating.

I prefer to use "notify me", but I normally check for updates manually each day.
