- Bill_SatelliteExplorer III believe the double data deal is currently due to expire 11/1, however, you can go back at any time if you choose.
- louiskathyExplorerI understand the double the data for the same price... but that deal is only going to last until sometime in 2015 ( as it stands now) and from what I thought I read from another post... once you double your data you can't go back down to what it was before. So when the deal ends in 2015 you are stuck with the "double data" and you don't know what they are going to charge for it at that point.
Anyone know if I'm wrong on this for sure?? - aslaksonExplorerYeah - I meant AWS. And yeah, I know it will suffer as more folks move to the newer hardware, and as we move to places that don't yet have AWS. But still . . .

Where we are now (Charleston SC) the LTE speed is nothing short of phenomenal. Speedtest.net this morning shows 19.26mbps download, 12.07mbps upload - about double what we got with the 4G. It was half again higher speed last night.
Of course, you realize you still are on the same 4G network; that didn't change. What may have changed is that your new hotspot may be AWS-compatible. The AWS frequency spectrum is being "rolled out" by Verizon in cities across the country and is accessible by newer smart phones and, most likely, by newer "hotspots." Because only a percentage of Verizon's devices can access AWS the speeds tend to be higher than most of us have previously experienced. However, as the number of AWS-compatible devices increases this speed is likely to decrease. - aslaksonExplorerHere's what we did - took about a half hour at the Verizon store up the road.
We have two "basic" phones with Verizon, and have been paying about $80 a month. We explained the situation, what we wanted, and asked how we could get there. Wound up converting our existing phone service to a "shared anytime" plan, then adding a hotspot with 30gb a month data. The data costs $130 a month. The three phone lines (2 phone, 1 hotspot) cost $20 each. That's $190 a month, or about $20 more than what we had when Millenicom was in the mix, for half again as much data. We also bought (another $50) one of the Verizon 4G/LTE hotspots. It helped that the per-line charges had just been reduced from $30 a day or two ago.

Your mileage may vary. But we're not unhappy.
I would suggest that it helps to deal with a Verizon company store rather than an "authorized" dealer. They almost always seem better able to make things happen
al - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IICheck out the coverage area where Metro PCS is available. If you don't move much and it works where you are parked it's likely a very good deal. If you don't fall within either of those categories it may not be.

I may have found something but someone near a store would need to research it. https://www.metropcs.com Over the phone is not good, but unlimited data for $60 is hard to ignore. Don't think they can do a Hot Spot, but perhaps if confronted face to face...Might be ATT towers.
MetroPCS is owned by T-Mobile and uses their network. - rdthompson1ExplorerSomething else I found.

- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIHere's the thing......Not one single Millenicom customer was a Verizon customer. Not one (unless you used other Verizon services). As as matter of fact, many quit paying Verizon a monthly fee so they could get more data and pay their monthly fee to Millenicom. In all reality, Verizon doesn't "have" to do anything and whatever they do is unlikely to be anything different than they are offering to any of their current or future customers. You are a brand spanking new Verizon customer as far as Verizon is concerned. If, and that's a big if, they do anything before the 1st of the month it will really surprise me since they will be able to let the added data offer lapse before offering a new deal. Keep in mind, this was NOT a warm and fuzzy buy-out but rather a hostile take-over. No one here is sure who's at fault but at this point it really makes no difference.
