But honestly who am I to judge that any entertainment of value can be found in the $5 DVD bin at Walmart?

Why would you encourage copyright infringement? - NMDriver2ExplorerYou said you were not a tech person but if you follow theseHow to Link directions carefully this should work to copy any movie, software, etc. DVD to your computer file or copy it to your blank DVD, flash drive, or removable storage device. You can use this on DVD's from a local library, your friends, or any other source you may have.
Trying this for resale of copywrite material is illegal in most places but is allowed for backup storage for personal use of items...
I personally just watch on a phone that casts to a TV or read a book if we do not have cellphone signal. - 2oldmanExplorer II

DVD's from Wal-Mart $5 bin. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIMost tablets can support an external drive. SOME external drives can support external (Wal-Wart) power in addition to what comes in via USB. OR you can use a device that lets you play them on your TV.
I have two DVR's networked so I can record OTA when I have a good signal often more than I can watch (2 shows or even 3 at one time though the 3rd recorder is a bit... Rough) and play 'em back when I have no signal.. Like now.
But Back to the external drive. I have a pair of half terabyte and you can get terabyte drives for basically dirt now. that's like 1,000 hours of storage. at 1 gig per hour. Some encoders do even better than that. - pryoclasticExplorer

When I’m not working on a plane I watch downloaded content on my iPhone.
Both Netflix and amazon prime offer downloadable content on iOS devices. - ReneeGExplorerWe do several things - watch movies with our satellite, watch movies on DVD, or watch downloaded movies on our tablet.
