MS Windows Support scam . . . .

I had great fun tonight.

Initially frustrated "Shawn" to the point that he asked to speak with the head of the household because he couldn't believe I didn't have a computer or internet. I told him I lived alone in the bush in remote Yukon, Canada with only animals for neighbours. Sweetly asked him if he knew about elk, bears, wolves.

He talked about Windows Operating System, "OS, you know". I told him my Windows were fine even though this was an old cabin and that I had no problems opening Windows. That I thought my Windows would be okay for another winter. Then I asked him if they could fix my Windows if they were drafty at -40.

He insisted that I must have a laptop, and so I chatted about my lap dog while others here have sled dogs.

Eventually he indicated I was an f'en illiterate moron and he hung up.

I don't feel the least bit guilty. And realized I make a darn fine dumb blonde when the time is right.

I received a call this morning and the Lady said it was an opinion poll. I told her that I was of the opinion that I didn't like opinion polls and she very politely replied, "Sir, I will place this number on our do not call list". I said Thank you and we hung up. Most of the time I just hang up.

When they called me the other day I told him that I had a MAC Book. I asked why would Windows support be interested in a MAC. He said no no no I am talking about your computer. I said I am too...he hung up. Wonder why? lol

Unless you know anyone from the 985 area code, I'd block or send these to voicemail as this area code appears to be used quite often for these type of support scams.

My protection against these is "caller ID" If I don't recognize the number, it doesn't get answered, it goes to the answer machine. 99% never leave a message

Of course these guys - just as we can - are free to pick a number from anywhere in the US no matter where they are physically located.

Geez! Not only is he annoying but nervy, as well! :M

This isn't new. Its been going on for years. It really ramped up though during 2013.

I may have got an email scam on the now unsupported WIN XP machines. Says to log-in here and we will download all of your hard drive files to their CLOUD for a fee while you change over to WIN 7 etc...

Most of these type emails automatically go to the JUNK FILE folder here but this one slipped through somehow...
