How sharp is that 2 bar peak?
The signals of some stations located off direction aimed by approximately 45 degrees increased from either 1 bar (25% strength, or 2 bars (50% strength) to 3 bars (75% strength) or 4 bars (100% strength). My gain was set to 20 DB.
Normally my television runs just fine on a 25% (1 bar) strength. Only problem would be some interference causing the signal fluctuate between 0 and 1 bar.
Sometimes aiming the antenna off signal can eliminate a more local interference in line with the antenna. The channels that gain the most in signal strength are 70 to 100 miles away. At the gain I run those within 60 miles are always 4 bars without re-aiming after locating signals in memory.
We will be heading out to northwestern Minnesota around Monday. I have logged records of channels found in previous years with the old antenna. Another good area for comparison.
