If you are still using the splitter you still have an unusable setup. For the moment, forget about any existing connections that you might have in your RV as these may not be compatible with satellite TV (more about this later if necessary).
You need to run 2 coax cables from the Carryout to the 2 inputs on your receiver (through a window if necessary, but absolutely direct!) and start fresh.
You mention the Tailgater as if that might have been a better solution but the Tailgater will not work with your 522 under any circumstance.
