No burglar alarms, theft alarms ??

I did a search and really found almost no posts about alarm systems. Has anyone installed one in their RV? Or do most think there is no reason for one? In a campground I see no reason, but I fish from my kayak and am away from my RV for hours out of sight when I leave it at a launch area. And you hear of break-ins when folks are in a restaurant. If any have installed a system, what type did you use??
  • RV Campers are a grade above the people in the regular world.

Raccoons stealing shrimp out of my cooler. is the only thieves I have encountered.

Perhaps you guys are camping where the Movie Deliverance was made.
  • I was going to look at SimpliSafe - not sure they would sell it without it being attached to a fixed address.... but might be worth a phone call.

And another option - calls your cell phone.

  • My friend has a battery powered alarm on the back door to his garage that goes off when you open the door that is turned on and off with a pop machine style key. So if the key is in the on position with the door open a fairly shrill alarm will sound. I believe there may be a 5 second delay or something so you can close the door and open it and turn it off before the alarm will sound.

Of course, it is not tied to a security service but it would be enough to scare the honest thieves away.

If it was a silent alarm I'd go for it.

I suspect neighbor campers would be frowning on a loud ALARM System going off at the camp ground especially in the middle of the night...

Much like when you hear someone accidentally set off their truck horn in the middle of the afternoon. Do you go investigate? I don't...

The only thing I have at my camp site if a motion detector setup that turns on my awning light when someone walks up... I suppose I could rig up something to send out a transmitted alarm using something like the C CRANE FM Transmitter module. If I hear tones going off in my portable FM radio I know it has been activated. Of course the range of this FM Transmitter is not very large.

Trail cameras might get you a good snap shot of an intruder to show the local police I reckon...

At my camp sites I work hard to keep things out of sight - out of mind when leaving the camp site unattended... Anything of any importance is always kept locked in the truck out of sight. That includes my 2KW Generator...
