I've gone 11 years without an alarm, but have a new Diesel Pusher and would like to relieve my worries when leaving the rig. I've been searching for an alarm that will text or email me when it goes off, but also has an app to set / disarm it, and not too expensive per month. We also have pets inside, so looking for one that will ignore pets motion. If anybody has a suggestion, I would greatly appreciate the help.

If you are keeping a mobile hotspot running for internet connection look into www.simplisafe.comIt uses the web for contact and monitoring, you install the sensors you want, maybe door and a glass break, dont know if you can turn it off and on remotely. happy motorin

How about installing the Club when you are away from the rig? Amazon has them for less than $45. It might not stop the pro with a portable grinder but should, at least, slow down everybody else or, when they see the Club sticking up in the windshield, encourage them to try to steal somebody else's rig.

If you have a dog inside, you've already got the best protection you can ever have. Even if the dog is a fluffy, lovable, big-old-galoot, thieves will ignore places with dogs.

Just about any home camera system will do what the OP wants but the trick is going to be the cellular requirement along with a WiFi router. I have several around and inside the homestead that will alert me to movement or sound and will send an image or a short video. I can also log into the cameras and see or hear what is going on.

I like the Reolink cameras I found on Amazon. A bit more expensive then others but the video quality is very good along the audio. Using an phone app I can listen, talk, pan, tilt and zoom the camera in addition to the camera recording to a micro SD chip.

Remember that the OP wants a system that will email or text when triggered. That means that it will need to have some sort of cellular data connection.

When we had contractors working on my garage, I always shoehorned into the conversation that my Mother lived with us and she never left her bedroom. I'd tell them she'd be in that room until she died. That way that thought somebody was always home. PS: She didn't live with us ;)

I'd think about all you'd need in an RV, is a alarm that goes off when the door is opened. I'd not be worried about someone breaking a window to get in. They're going to come in the door. A door alarm would have to have a delay so YOU can enter. A fake system using a red flashing LED in the door window and a exterior keypad might be just about as good. When you get home always push a few buttons so anyone watching sees you. If I was to installed a siren, it would have to be located under the RV someplace so the dog didn't have to hear it going off. Personally, I have never worried about it anyplace we've camped. Where we stay in Maggie Valley, we leave it unlocked all the time but we know almost everyone there. I'd only worry if I was leaving it in a parking lot somewhere. Most RVer's seem to watch each others stuff. Everybody has to check out each others stuff. LOL!
