I bought a cheap B&W HP toner printer for the MH because I used the color inkjet printer so seldom that they died when the ink nozzles clogged up. Also had to remember to take in out of the MH when not it use because the ink cartridges didn't like being frozen.
Toner prices are all over the board as you and others have stated. I buy non OEM on eBay from whomever is cheapest, free shipping, highly rated, etc. The only caveat is that you need to make sure the cartridge is not a intro/demo size with limited number of pages. I've never had an issue buying non OEM on eBay for home use in many years.
