Non-OEM toner cartridges

I just got a new Canon laser printer that takes the 137 black toner. Considering the starter cartridge is about worthless I want to get a replacement. The search I did returned posts about refilling but not much on non-OEM cartridges. Are any of them reliable or like the HP ink refills? I paid $125.00 for the printer at a Costco on line sale and find toner is $100.00. There seems to be something wrong with values there.. Thanks.
  • I use Rosewill brand toner replacements for my Brother laser printer. They work great!
  • Never had an issue with refilled or non-oem toner cartridges or drums.
  • With any laser printer every once in a while pull the toner cartridge out and give it a gentle side to side shake to even out the powder. Also, on my Brother laser printer it will time out the toner with flashing lights but still print fine. You can Google this and find a work around to reset the time out. My original small capacity toner lasted over a year with several resets. My high capacity toner set off the toner time out lights within 6 months, reset and still going strong.
  • One reason I like Brother is that they are the only ones who use separate toner and drum assemblies- the drum lasts far longer than the toner. Everyone else has you replace the drum every time. That also makes a difference in the quality of refills and aftermarket.
  • My thoughts have always been to stick with my first decision. I had a Brothers selected from Best Buy but found this Canon on Costco online. You folks mostly seem to prefer Brothers and I now have a Canon.. "Too soon old ve get, und too late schmart".. It doesn't matter much anyway. I took a print head from another HP printer, cleaned it in alcohol and it works in this HP. The Canon is still partially unboxed on the living room floor. I will save your comments for a later need. Thanks a bunch...
