Now Dish is threatening to dump CBS!

I could care less about CNN.According to Dish it was Turner Broadcasting who pulled CNN.We also have an antenna so can get over the air broadcasts that way.

Was it Dish that removed CNN? On my Receiver it says that it was removed by Turner.

CNN does rate as # 2 in almost every time slot, hardly irrelevant.

Does anybody remember when cable and satellite were commercial-free since there was a monthly fee? That lured a lot of people away from their air antennas with rotors. I think I just dated myself.....

Of course the people who complain about Dish/DIRECTV/Cable dropping a channel would also be the first to complain when the rates go up each year. It is a game that is played every contract renewal. The provider wants to increase it's profits while the transmitter wants to keep it's prices down and profits up. What is interesting is that the charges are per subscriber not per viewer. For example if your local cable company has 100 thousand customers they pay ESPN X dollars times 100k to carry it and it doesn't matter how many people actually watch ESPN.I use ESPN because they get the highest rates.

I used to tune in HLN (CNN's little sister) of a morning to see if Robin Meade was on, or if someone else was subing that day. It seems she only works 3 or 4 days a week. It was a game for me, I didn't stay there very long, just 5 -10 minutes (to get past the commercials), and then back out to something else, BBC, or RT, or local.
I miss the game, but not the network. DW is unhappy about the Cartoon Channel, misses TCM, but the MGM replacement is working for her.
We've been with Dish since 2000, no problems, and so far only 2 channel disruptions that affected us, not bad at all.

Count me as another who didn't know that Dish no longer carries CNN, or that CNN is still in business. And as for CNN offering a "moderate" viewpoint--well then things have really changed!!

As others have said, this is all part of a painful process that will eventually get us more of what we want to watch and less of what we don't. I'm happy to pay extra for the highly-specialized action sports channels that 99% of viewers would choose to give up first, before their beloved Cartoon channel or CNN. Oops, that's redundant!

each year DISH And DirecTV negotiate what channels they will provide based on viewership. The fault is with both DISH and CBS for failure to negotiate. Don't let CBS tell you it's DISH's fault. Same thing happens with Directv. They dropped the Weather Channel because the negotiations fell through. The Weather Channel told their viewers to cancel Directv. I sent an email to The Weather Channel and gave them a piece of my mind.
