Now that I have a smart phone..do I even need a GPS device?

As usual in these gps threads so much of what is posted is either strait up wrong or based on old outdated tech -so still wrong. A big screen smartphone with good software is every bit as good gps as a current garmin/tomtom and sooo much more. Saying the gps on a smartphone won't work without cell reception is a complete myth. I've used my iPhone 6 Plus from Canada to paso Robles and back on all the way for gps guidance without a cent of extra data charge.
