Thank you, everyone for responding. Yes, my profile does have two names, louiskathy, and we pretty much are joined at the hip when it comes to going anywhere.
He drives. I navigate. My front seat in the truck camper looks like a wired nightmare. Inverter under the seat powers a surge protected power strip that has a lot of devices plugged into it. I just find it easier to hit the on/off switch on one device than worry about draining the battery.
Verizon Hotspot... Wilson Cradle... TOMTOM GPS...tablet running Google Maps... bluetooth speaker... I do use the old stand bys: US atlas...and the DeLorme state atlas... and yes, I use a camera to take pictures so that's on the seat close at hand, and I have a way to recharge those batteries from the front seat too.
So the thought did cross my mind that maaybe I could eliminate the TOMTOM.
I guess not. Hubby just told me that he really likes the GPS on the dash to see where he's at and not just rely on me. It is a big help to know which lane to be in at all times.
I'm going to check out the Nuvi 3597 LMTHD that was suggested. The TOMTOM I have now often indicates that "live services are not available" or it will not be able to get a GPS tracking signal so it doesn't know where we are. The most frustrating thing is when i connect it to the laptop and I get the dreaded "Device not recognised" pop up. I am totally ready to ditch this TOMTOM.
Someone asked about what Live Services was. Life time maps and Live Services are two different things. I have life time maps and I connect the TOMTOM to my computer about once a month for map updates.
Live Services is for minute to minute traffic updates, Yelp, Gas stations/prices near my location. I tried going without Live Services for a few weeks about a year ago...and I really missed it but I didn't have my smart phone yet.
I'll look into CoPilot, as well.
Thank you, all. Again.
