Online Sale Price Honored BUT With A Catch !!!

So we were in the local CW store and picked up an item . The Mrs was online earlier in the morning and like me on alot of things needs to see ,touch, feel and then buy !
So we take the item up to check-out reg price $49.99 ask the clerk if they will honor the online price , she replied sure BUT WE CHARGE SHIPPING WTH so basically it comes out to the same price !!
I should of just put the item back and ordered it online !

I've never heard of this before , I can walk into Fry's , Best Buy, Wal Mart etc and they will match internet prices and NO HAVING TO PAY SHIPPING !

  • Competition, if you're going to charge more than the next guy you better find a way to keep them coming to you. Better service, treatment of customers, cookies, whatever! Otherwise you will be paying more for employees than you are bringing in and then out of business.

    This is so well put.
What they did is bad business and leaves a customer feeling taken advantage of.
Why does there always have to be a hitch in CW's dealings?
  • So you use camping world for the "see, touch, feel" and then go somewhere else. What do you think it cost camping world to let you do the "see touch, feel" thing?
  • Yes it was from the CW site. The item in particular was Decor Stove Cover online $42.98 in store Club sale price $49.97 they matched the price then added shipping came out to $49.97 plus tax .

Being not happy about that , she found it on Amazon for $40.66 free shipping..

I have to return a product I can't use and will return the item above mentioned.

By not simply taking care of a customer and NOT charging the $6.99 for shipping, they've lost a complete sale $46.20. Chump change for most and not even a dot on CW's radar. BUT That turned into over $10.00 saving for me and she gets her cover in 2 days..

One more thing so since when does a person get charged tax on shipping ?
Which they did! They agreed to match online price then the catch they added the shipping charge $6.99 to the online price $42.98 came to $49.97 then charged tax on the total. Not sure if that legal or not ?

At least at other places I have ordered stuff I've never had to pay tax on the shipping part of it !

So in conclusion on this for me anyways ,had they simply NOT charged us the shipping , we would have left the CW store feeling like we were taken of by CW.
Instead we left upset and took our business elsewhere..

  • I've had Lowes, Home Depot and others match internet prices but WITH shipping included. After all, IF you bought it ON LINE you'd have to pay shipping..on many items, shipping is an integral part of of the price...In this instance I would have to side with Camping World in their thinking. Whether the dollar amount is sufficient to warrant an unhappy customer is another story.

Personally, like your wife I like to do the touchy feely thing too, but I'm willing to pay for the privilege of doing so....JMO...Dennis
