It was probably loading a lot of programs and services. Any computer can be made to boot faster. It all depends on the programs and services the you have set to run at boot.
I got my new Win7 x64 with the i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM. Boots in 35 seconds running everything I want. One happy camper here.:)
If you really want to speed up a computer install a Solid State Drive. I hear they boot in about 10 to 15 seconds or less. Then again how fast do you need a computer to boot? The more you spend and tweak the faster the boot.
