I am amazed at the number of people who have continued to post to this thread without paying any attention to the posts which correctly explain that it is very easy to create a Facebook page that is completely open to the public and doesn't require you to join Facebook to access it. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth posting information on the forum when people don't seem to read anything other than the OP.
As for Facebook pages vs blogs, it is fun to be able to post directly to your page from a smartphone, not that I do it all that often. To add new infor I don't have to write more than a few words and combine them with some interesting pictures and our friends enjoy being able to comment on them.
