Question re: what functions add to GB usage on net

Patti has received email telling us we are nearing our limit of GB's "used" monthly.
Is being on facebook and playing games on facebook adding to this? I like the game Mafia Wars and Patti plays Words with Friends, Word Tornado. WAY more intelligent than mine. I like to post "political" news. And I know when I watch an occasional Montana State game on BigSkyTV that adds to the total.
Our Granddaughter (20) is living with us and she spends HOURS upon HOURS on a War game where she is online with others playing. It may be Gears of War.
Her folks, our Daughter and Husband are also with us and they do games, facebook, texting through our wi-fi and Christi is on alot while working on an online business she has started. Which of these add to the amount of usage.....
Thank you

  • If your WiFi is via a cell connected MiFi or cell modem connected router, than all of the above could be contributing to your usage. My wife is a big online game player, and between us, we average about 1GB per day. She gets most of our 20GB/mo 4G plan, while our 20GB/mo 3G plan is adequate for my online needs.
  • If you are connected to the internet via cell service you will chew up a lot of data playing online role playing games, using Facebook, watching utube videos. You might look for a settings somewhere where you can limit such activities to WIFI only.
  • Wifi does Not.
Only 3G and 4g connections use data.

Might also depend who you have your wifi through.
