Replacing Omni Directional Saucer TV Antenna

I want to replace the Omni directional TV antenna on my Work and Play Toy Hauler with a Jack antenna. The work and play has metal roof trusses with a light layer of Luan over the truss and then one piece aluminum roof. It is not a walk on roof.

I called a local dealer who sells Work and Plays and asked about the roof construction for installing a Jack antenna. Yes there is a TV antenna already on the roof but with the Jack Antenna being a crank type or turn type of antenna I wanted to make sure it would work for my application and that the roof wuld support it. Their thought was that it would but that they would have to bring power to the new Jack Antenna and installation would depend on how much work that was.

Now, to my question. The current Omni Directional antenna that I am using is a power boost antenna. Should'nt be power already at the antenna?
  • There is one way to find out:

Disconnect the antenna from the coax and with the antenna power switch "ON", measure the voltage at the antenna end of the coax.
