roof tv antennas

If you were going to replace your roof top antenna. What antenna would you replace it with and would you use an amp also? I have a winegard mount up there now

    Your kidding of course.

Omi-directional isn't worth the hole created in the roof to install it.

I'll say. My buddy has a new Arctic Fox TT with one of those. He got one station while I got five with my Jack Ant.

So you guys are saying the round saucer shaped ones don't work well? I used one on my house, and it picked up a bunch of stations. And I didn't have to turn it to tune one in. Not sure I'd want one on the TT. Figured the wind might catch it, and blow it away.
  • Omnis are fine.... if you're in urban areas.
Elininates the need to point to the station, which can be a pain...... so if that's your gripe. Go for an omin-directional.

The thing is, they won't pull stations in from as far away....... hence the earlier helpful responses
  • I have a Winegard Senar IV with Wingman as well as a Jack replacement head and the latter is on the mast now. It is a close call as to which is better in real world situations.
  • You also have responses on your other thread. Either way you are going to end up with an amp.

And don't listen to anyone suggesting an Omni, even if they are kidding.

    X2
I know this has to do with your other post. Replacing Ant. Will not help you.

Winegard SENSAR IV and I would use the SENSAR PRO module inside to replace the more common wall plate or in front of the box of many buttons (It is the only exception to the "Nothing between BOMB and Antenna except coax rule)

As for amplifier... the antenna has one built in, and the Sensar Pro does as well, in addition to several advanced features that come in very handy.

What do I use: Well it's a Sensar II with Wingman not a Sensar IV, but there is not much difference.

Some folks like the JACK, but the long range performance (Which is important to me) is far better on the Winegard.

  • Wineguard Sensar IV ... the one with the wingman and Sensar amp/display module.
