It depends on what you mean by "directly load". If it's a route then you have to use the "Export to GPX file" from S&T. You then have to copy that file into your 760's internal storage.
If you're talking about Custom POIs, then using the Garmin POI Loader, then yes, you can load them directly onto your 760.
In both of the above cases you will be using the internal storage capacity of the 760. By putting the files on a SD card you're not use any internal storage, and they still work fine.
