I've been doing some research on these two GPS units! Is seems to me there is really only two differences:
1. The 2797 is about $150 less
2. RV760 has input of your height to aid in low clearances
How much is that worth?
Is low clearance a bigger issue traveling East?
I decided that I'll pick one of these two garmin's! I like the ability to give voice commands while driving, much easier for me, my last garmin had the same function and worked great.
Any feedback is appreciated! Ru
Not to be mean but I think many people make a mistake when they make a comparison between an RV/Truck GPS, that has the ability to accept the RV dimensions and route accordingly, and a GPS designed for automobile use. You are basically comparing apples and oranges.
I have used a GPS starting when it was a serial port attachment to a laptop. Of course back then if it lead me down a dog path it really wasn't a big deal since I was towing nothing bigger than a small popup. After acquiring a regular TT I just used maps and stayed on the Interstates mostly for many years. When the GPS self contained units came down in the reasonable price range I bought a Magellan automobile only GPS. It lead me down a dog path and if the nice lady at the end of that path had not let me turn in her pasture I would probably still be backing out of that lane.
Not that an RV/Truck GPS are infallible but I will take the ability to enter my RV dimensions and have it route accordingly anytime over not having this ability. I personally felt that that ability was worth the premium and compared the different RV/Truck units when I made my purchase of the Garmin RV760.
If I did not feel that the ability to have the RV dimensions incorporated in the mix was worth the additional cost I would not be basing my decision on whether a non-RV GPS compares favorably with an RV GPS. YMMV
