Casi,
Whatever you do, listen to Bill.Satellite.
X2 on this.
I full time and have the Winegard Pathway X2. It's automatic, has a slightly larger antenna then the Tailgater (no disrespect intended) and can access either the DISH eastern arc or western arc satellites. It also has two cable outputs so you can run cables to 2 TVs. This allows you to watch different channels as long as they come off the same satellite.
In 2 years I can think of only 1 or 2 times that I could not get a signal and both times it was because of tall trees all around me. You will be able to get Dish just about all the time even at higher latitudes. I do recommend a tripod as that does gain you a few feet elevation and also keeps the sat dish off the ground (think heavy rain).
If you have an Apple phone, I highly recommend the dishformyRV app. It costs $5 and works great. These portable sat receivers are automatic but it helps to set them on the ground with a good line of sight to the satellites. The app uses your phone's camera to project 6 red balls, corresponding to the 3 eastern and 3 western satellites, onto the sky when you hold up the camera and aim at the southern sky. Using this app allows you to pick the best starting point for your satellite antenna.
