to what kind of restrictions are you referring? - 2oldmanExplorer II

There are no restrictions I'm aware of with DTV DVR recording...with the exception of PPV.
Same types of restrictions from the cable companies on a cable box with a DVR,.. If you want to think there are drawbacks, then you have not done the research.
I just did research on the brands mentioned here. I'm pretty sure my reading comprehension is up to the task. - Campfire_TimeExplorer

Hulu, Directv Now, and Sling all have Cloud DVR services. I'm sure others do to. As I said, all that info is out there.
True to a degree, but not "lots". Same types of restrictions from the cable companies on a cable box with a DVR, actually the cable companies are far more expensive. The point is, that what you suggested was not possible, is. We saved $100 a month by dropping cable, using an OTA DVR, and a streaming service with cloud DVR. We have more available to us and are not missing anything about cable. We haven't found any caveats to cutting the cord. If you want to think there are drawbacks, then you have not done the research. - Tom_M1Explorer

Howdy!
We have been fulltiming for over 12 years and up until last year used DirecTV satellite for our TV viewing. We had planned our trip last year to Alaska and new we would lose satellite in Canada and Alaska so we cut the cord. We have a unlimited plus AT&T plan and now also have prepaid Verizon unlimited MiFi plan. We were already using Netflix’s and Amazon Prime so we added DirecTV Now. We had great success streaming in Canada and Alaska. Only one location in lower 48 was a problem and that as a TT’s Park in Cottonwood, AZ but knowone had service. One nice thing about stream is I know longer have to worry about the satellite being blocked by anything when we setup. We are very happy with streamingand also save money as we had the largest DTV satellite package.

How much does an unlimited plus AT&T plan run and how much does a prepaid Verizon unlimited MiFI plan cost. And would that be enough for a full Saturday of football games?
Unlike some who camp to get away from TV, our group goes to all of our university's home football games and some away games in the fall. When we are not in the stadium watching our team, we tend to have the TV on showing other games that are being aired. - timmacExplorer

In most of the RV parks I have stayed in the WI-FI will barely let you send an E-mail let alone stream video.
I have Dish for the RV.
That's what I was thinking too. We have Dish, just reactivated it for the year of camping/traveling. Many places we camp, whether FS or boondocking barely have internet (even with our Wi-Boost), but we have satellite reception!
