Satellite

I have an Outback 316 RL. Is there any way to establish a satellite feed to the outside cable receptical I get cable and air tv but no satellite. Thanks
  • If you have Dish satellite with a Hopper receiver, you could install a wireless Joey for the outside TV. Or if you have a Hopper with Sling, and the outside TV has an HDMI port, you could plug in an Amazon TV Firestick with the Dish Anywhere app installed and watch with that. That would save the monthly fee for the Joey.
  • Fortunately my Winnebago has a dedicated cable from the outside wall to a plate above the TV that is for Satellite. There is another outside connector for cable. Here is an excellent article that shows you how to do what BB_TX was using originally. This way you don't have to add a cable inside the walls of the trailer. Here is a schematic of the way my Minnie is wired.

You can have a break in DirecTV's cable to the tuner (don't know about Dish), but you can not have any boosters, etc. as others have said. I have a connection at the wall plate coming in from my dish and then a straight shot to the tuner. Works well and has worked well for 7 years full time.

If you can get a wiring schematic from your manufacturer for your model it will help finding out where you incoming wiring goes and what is hidden in the walls.
  • If the wire is a straight run to the wallplate before it splits, this may work for you.
    rewire
  • If you only have one outside connection, it likely will not work for satellite as it probably goes thru the antenna amplifier/cable select switch.

Mine was like that. BUT. The internal coax cable first went from the outside connection to an inside dual coax wall plate with a short coax jumper between the two connectors before continuing on to the switch. I could remove the short jumper and connect another coax from that wall plate to my sat receiver box and it worked fine. You might look to see if you have a similar dual coax wall plate somewhere.

Ultimately I added a new outside connector dedicated for satellite so as to not have to mess with the jumper.
  • Find the junction box for that wiring. Then you can fashion a pigtail from the input of the box to whichever connector you want.
