School me on OTA for Dish

Nearly all DISH receivers can be connected to multiple TV's (same channel on each) or a 2nd receiver can be installed to connect to the 2nd TV. Nearly all portable antennas will support 2 receivers.

Yes, the there's often not much information for the OTA channels so a little surfing may be required to figure out on. Of course, you could get the call letters and do an internet search to find the programming schedule if it's really that important.

I'm not real big on TV but I do have some programs I enjoy so the plan I have lets me find those quickly. Being out 6-9 months a year and moving every week or so I got tired of surfing to find them. I do have OTA in the bedroom but don't recall the last time that one was on. My Dish setup only supports a single TV.

I'm using a Vip211k with a built-in OTA tuner. After attaching the adapter and rebooting the receiver, you'll need to do a channel scan. After that, add the channels it finds to your "favorites" list. The channels will appear in your guide along with whatever information is available for programming. There's a lot more channels available OTA than Dish can carry. The only trouble I have is getting a good reliable signal with no drop-outs.

Problem is the OTA shows no info in the guild. I have never seen whats on in the OTA and that's exactly why I use the Dish mobile with the local channel option. Try adding the locals to your subscription, $10 a month.

OP here. I do get my locals through Dish except for our local Fox station because of a contract dispute. I ended up buying a $14 OTA antenna just to watch live but may get the adapter to hook it up to my Hopper so I can still record and pause.

I just ditched Dish after all the problems this year.

As Bill said by hooking up the OTA antenna to your Dish receiver you can PVR the OTA stuff. Record, Pause, playback anything you can do with the satellite stuff. Pretty neat feature!!

You also don't have any satellite TV service and spend a great deal of time promoting OTA TV as an alternative. Not sure what your goal is with the nonsensical post.

I thought DISH got out of the SATELITTE TV Service. The only mail things I get from them now is INTERNET TV Service through a local internet provider???
