messed it up first time...had a duh moment... We have used a channelmaster for about 5 years now. We put a splitter so we could record and watch on 2 different channels.

I have one of these that I purchased at Walmart:
Ematic Converter box $24.99

Add a USB hard drive for DVR function. It has only a single tuner but it has antenna pass through so you could watch a different show on the TV while the box is recording something else. The user interface is a bit crude and takes a little effort to figure out.
