Set up of Directv receiver and Winegard PM2000

My dh and I are hopelessly untechnical at wiring stuff but want to have some sat tv while camping. We have gotten the Directv TV receiver model number R16-500 from camping world as well as the Winegard PM-2000 satellite antenna. From what I can tell we are going to need some extra parts also. Can anyone in the simplist way explain how to wire this stuff together? I would appreciate any help.

  • You should have everything you need. If not, the only other thing you would need is some coax cable.
You connect the output from the LNB on the antenna to the input in the back of the receiver. In the case of the R-16, you will run 2 cables from the 2 outputs on the LNB to the 2 inputs on the receiver.
Do not try to use any existing connections in your RV (like the Cable In connection) to run the coax, run it directly to the receiver (through a window, whatever). You can deal with running new cables later.
Once you are all hooked up you just need to learn how to point the antenna and you will be watching TV.
