It requires a high bandwidth internet connection which is not always available. CG WiFi can be troublesome and your neighbors won't be happy with you hogging all the bandwidth. Portable cellular WiFi adapters (like the Jetpack) would work but you'll burn through you data allowances pretty fast.
I use the sling box attached to my dish network hopper quite frequently.......I use an HDMI cable from my smart phone to the LED TV in my motorhome...... I also have Verizon unlimited data......
Thanksgiving week 2013 we were camping and several of the days we had heavy rain.... We used 18 gigs of data in 7 days...... most of it through the sling box..... a little bit through Netflix.....
my sling box was free fom Dish network and worth every penny......
I've used Sling and more recently a Vulkano. Either is handy if you have the bandwidth. When we're at home, my wife can watch her shows on the TV and I can watch my sports on my laptop or tablet over wifi. Away from home, they will work over the internet.
It works good but again goes to the quality of the wifi you get where your parked. Same for all of them netflix etc. If someone is in the park between you and the wifi antenna watching frozen on netflix, they will suck away alot of bandwidth and your signal will be weaker.

Yes, I have a Sling on my Dish receiver (before they started with the built-in option)
It works well, but your home internet needs to have a FAST upload capability, at least 3-5megabits of upload speed (download speed is irrelevant), and as mentioned by others, you need similar download speed at your camp site (4g works fine)
I use Slingbox both on my laptop,, and purchased the app for my IPad...I have the connector cables that allow me to watch the content from my IPad on any TV with an HDMI cable... It is only as good as your signal , weather its public wifi , or your own bandwidth.. I use it everywhere I have signal .. As a matter of fact , I am in the office right now and watching GMA on my desktop with slingbox . . you have unlimited DATA so you can watch the HD version,,, when I am on my mifi jetpack , I watch regular to save data
Works great. Have rarely been in a campground with enough data capacity to use it, but we have ATT IPhones with unlimited data, and it will usually stream fine. The bigger issue is finding something we want to watch. You also have access to your DVR and you can set it to record progrms from the app as well.
