Sony Drops Dash, but Chumby may rescue

Question

I know some of us use the Sony Dash for weather radar, etc., and if you have a Dash you probably know by now that Sony is abandoning it effective this July. The organization that bought what was left of the old chumby, on which the dash was based, are looking at trying rescue. They are looking to see possible interest.

is there anything that makes the Sony Dash as good as or better than a $40 Android tablet? Seems like the Android device would have far more useful apps available for it. The 'weather radar' mentioned caught my eye as I have a tablet double-face taped to our fridge running the "NOAA weather free" app that gives me radar and 7 day forecast at a glance.

garyemunson wrote:is there anything that makes the Sony Dash as good as or better than a $40 Android tablet? ....No not really, but if you're used to it it is handy, since it operates, if you prefer, hands off, and a glance up gives you the time,date, and which ever widget is running at the moment (my widgets change ever 15 seconds and include personal vacation pics and "stuff" (jpgs, etc.) from all over the net).The thought is to "save" the dash for those who have it and like using it.
