sound recording program to save as mp4

Hi,

Darn it! I thought I had this solved.

But time has moved on. I need an audio recorder that can save in mp4 format so I can upload to youtube.

I need the program to run under win 7.

Thanks in advance.
  • I guess I am still asking the wrong question.

How do I create a sound file that can be uploaded to youtube. They don't accept mp3, but do accept mp4 and several other video formats

I feel I am a total dunce at this.

To my knowledge you can't upload a pure sound file to YouTube, it has to have some video content, even just a single black frame repeated over and over.

  • On your page you'll find an Upload icon in the upper right...eventually.

  • Mp4 is an AV container. You'll need some sort of video content, even just a still frame. Using H.264 or H.265 codec, or VP9 codec.

YouTube accepts two audio formats that I know of, mpeg 1 layer 3, aka mp3, and AAC.

Bitrate should be no less than 192 kilobits.

I would use ffmpeg to assemble the mp4 container, not sure if there's any graphical way to do it short of Adobe Premiere.
