You state we had a corrupt MS update disable a computer.. Who is we and are you passing along something you witnessed happen or something someone told you happened to their brothers, friends, uncles, half sisters, aunt?
My personal work computer (work is we as I own the company) Win 8.1 with the issue. My personal laptop Win 7 updated with no issues. All I can go on is what the Dell tech said and this post.. Obviously this isn't effecting everyone but is is occurring quite frequently according to the service tech. I heard the same from the dispatch tech. I see no reason not to believe them, they are under contract and not getting an extra dime for the service call. Until the source of the problem is corrected I would not allow an automatic update. And yes if it happens to you, it feels like the sky is falling.
