Two Win7 machines running fine after the updates. I noted that the major update came out and then was followed a couple of days later with another three updates.
Because we live in an area with access to limited bandwidth AND speed of that bandwidth, I don't let anything auto-update. Instead, systems are set to notify me and a use my Windows-given power to choose when to update based on how much bandwidth I have left in the month and whether there are other things I need to be doing and don't want to be downloading/updating/restarting my system.
I also had a laptop in the past that started an auto update while we were travelling. We pulled in for fuel, I used the free Wi-Fi to check email, we pulled out of town. About an hour later the laptop crashed. No recovery. Turned out it was partially through an auto update when we pulled away and it couldn't finish. ARGH. Never have auto updates on when travelling. :S
