System Restore generally makes daily restore points in Task Scheduler by default. Make sure that System Restore is turned on at least for your system drive, and that the scheduled tasks work for your situation. For instance, my desktop is set to make a restore point @4A each day as it's kept on all the time. But that won't work for my laptop, so have to adjust the scheduled task to better fit when I'm using it.
You can then use Windows RE(recovery environment) to select a previous day restore point should a corrupt update cause boot up issues.
