Straight Talk Talking in Circles

Chatted with Straight Talk why that 5 gigabyte of service is $50 but the 7 gigabyte is $75 and because of this the cost per gig of service is higher for the 7 gig purchase than the 5 gig purchase.
First thing they said was that of course that the 7 gig was higher because it had more gigs.
When I finally got them to understand that I was talking about the cost per gigabyte for the 7 gigabyte was higher than the 5 gigabyte the response was that Straight Talk does not sell by the gigabyte.
But there data refills start at one gigabyte.
Still chuckling over this.

I have 10 gigs with Verizon on my cell phone plan for $60. Why would anyone spend more money on a Straight Talk plan for more than you pay for it directly from Verizon?
The Verizon site shows Prepaid Data Plans $100 10GB expires after 2 Months.

If you are talking about phone and data then Gulfcoast shows Straight Talk is less expensive.

    Yes, lots of people wonder why 5Gb = $50 and 7Gb = $75 :h
  • Straight Talk website... 10GB data plus unlimited talk and text is $55.
  • The good part about Straight Talk hotspots... you only pay for the months you want to use it. I have one I haven't used in several months, when I get ready to use it again I just buy a card at Walmart. easy
  • Is that a pay-as-you-go plan for $60? And can you shut it off when you don't need it? If I only use 5 gig will I still have to pay for 10?

  • Because if they priced the 7gb plan at the same per gb rate as the 5gb plan, then most people would buy the 7gb plan and use all that extra data. By making the 5gb plan a "great deal", they keep their customers at a data usage level that their infrastructure can handle.
  • 1GB 15*5=75
    the 5gb is pkg deal,
some people need more, some use less
they can do the pkg deal because the people that use less make up for those that use the 5gb

if you get 5 gb for $50 and add (2)gb it comes out to $80,
so buying the the 7gb for $75 is a $5 saving, if you need that 7gb every month
if NOT go with the $50, then add Gbs when needed
the sales reps have no control, there is no sense in trying to explain your logic to them
customer service when disputing a billing error, is totally different
they can change things, and level headed calm explanations can help

Then why does Walmart sell those cards of 1 GB for $15? :h
  • Straight Talk has been very good to me... and has saved me lots of money per year.
