  • We were down that way last spring and never had one bit of trouble. Even going through the mountains to go down to Chattanooga we never lost signal once. Our phones use the Verizon network
  • Service is spotty in parts of Kentucky. We are in Kentucky visiting wife's sister and we have no service for AT&T or Verizon. You will find this in states with mountains.
  • We were in Kentucky last year and we use Straight Talk and had no problem. Our ST uses the verizon towers though. Wife used her phone for the waze app and rvparky and there was never a problem.
  • As Darsben has stated, Straight talk uses both modes of operation depending on where you are buying the phone for as a primary location they will use either verizon or att system.
  • Which provider are you with? Straight talk uses different cell phone services. It is dependent on where you put down as your service area. IN order to get service through Verizon I put down Roosevelt, AZ. If I had used Syracuse, NY it would have been T-MOBILE as the provider. T-Mobile is not as prevalent in rural areas. So call straight talk and tell them you will be in the area you had no service in and what do they recommend.
