T mobile internet

I saw where t mobile is offering a home internet connection with unlimited data for $55.
Does anyone have this service and does it stream movies satisfactory. Finally, can you move this connection in your rv. Thanks
  • You may want to look at Verizon's own Visible Mobile unlimited everything, which also has no 4G LTE data caps. Nor currently imposing speed restrictions so long as you keep the account active. It also allows hotspot. Though only a limited number of smartphones are currently compatible? In any case, Verizon is likely to have better coverage than other mobile providers?

The last speed test I did:

      My iPhone 4G LTE

From my Dell PC using hotspot

T-Mobile does not offer where I am at. (I think it is only in 5G markets) however I have T-Mobile 55+ plan which is not 55 but 72 after taxes (or 73) and that is "Unlimited" (no data limts but throttled after a fairly good size chunk) and Sprint via FMCA Tech Connect. .Both of these are 4G I'm pulling about 60MbPS from Sprint and 40 from T-mobile here in the apartment. So Everything is running through Sprint. (Oh by the way sprint and T-Mobile have merged)

last night I was watching Ham-Nation LIVE. .that's a LIVE video stream on laptop #2 with the chat room (IRC room) On Laptop #1.. NO buffering No pauses, NO dropouts Solid video all the way.. Only "Drop out" was when I hit the "X" to shut it down (In short THE END).

By the way For those who do not know about Ham Radio.. You can find Ham Nation by using GOOGLE. Started by Bob Heil (Heil sound inc) and Gordon West (A very well known west coast ham) and now featuring several others they discuss ham radio. THings related to Ham radio.. And many of the aspects of Ham radio.

Ham radio is great.. As I sit here there is a small hand held "Radio" (IN quotes because I have the radio parts turned off) that's hooked by wire to a Raspberry Pi Zero W. NO Header. No "Hardware Attached Technology" (Save for the ID-51A+2 "Radio" So I"m not transmiting RF other Than Wi-fi.

Wi-FI to my T-mobile phone, then to the Sprint Mi-Fi device (At the moment) then to the internet.. From me to a server. Usually in Dallas, TX. and from there to the world. I know this takes a while to read (and type) but the bottom line is

I push the button and talk to folks all over the globe (Fartest was Hong Kong that's half way round this ball of dirt) And you are not even limited to this ball of Dirt.. Yup. The international space station if you are hyper lucky I'm told is D-Star capable (They don't often do it).

All with ZERO watts of RF. .. IF the internet goes down.. I push a few buttons and there are local Repeaters I can hit with RF.. in fact last year (not this year) I assisted with communications for a well known area foot race (Hams do that kind of thing) and used the same Radio. as a Radio.

    I really like that radio

You can get into Ham Radio for LESS than 100 dollars..
THe one I'm using is a bit (400) More expensive But it works great .
(I got into D-Star because ICOM (The maker of the radio) Sent me the ID-51's big brother (ID-5100) free.. Yup. Won a drawing.> What Drawing you ask. Well watch Ham Nation and George will explain it to you.

How does this help me in these troubling COVID-19 Times

Well there are many out there with nobody to talk to. as we must maintain our social distance.

So I sit here in Mid-Michigan talking to folks in Virginia. Illinois. Toronto California.. Hong Kong, South Africa.. Korea,, All without moving from my computer chair.. Life is interesting. All thanks to ham radio.

Do not want to rely on the internet: Well I also have a Kenwood TS-2000 HF "All mode" radio.. Using that and pushing about 100 Watts into a simple long wire I've in the past talked to about half the USA.. These days it's not so good due to band conditions... Turning the power down and hooking up a computer I"ve typed to about half the world.. I've been heard in Russia. Talked to Italy and France among other places....

IN addition you to Typing and talking we still do CW (Morse code) and both "Fast Scan" (NTSC) television and "Slow Scan" (30 seconds per frame) the first pictures sent back by the first Astronauts on the Moon (Lunanuts?) were sent using Slow Scan.

IN public service I have personall baby sat downed power lines after a serious storm... Helped with shelter communications... Babysat a crashed aircraft.. Helped with Communications for races, Parades, "'Thons" (Bike walk mara) and more. IN fact save for maintenance and emergency prior to 9-11-2001 and now COVID-19 the US/Canada border... ONE and only ONE crossing point was closed for a few hours in peace time.> WHY.. Windsor/Detroit international marathon.
THe order to close and to reopen the tunnel was given by Ham Radio.. as it needed to cross an international border. And we can legally do that.

Yes. that's one of the 'thons, I've helped with.
  • I also have a T-Mobile 4G LTE biz account at home, using a four antenna Ethernet/WiFi router - it has a SIM card slot. It's been very reliable for years, though have seen an occasional drop-out since T-Mobile pushed out a network enhancement a few months ago. May have had something to do with 5G upgrades?

Upload speeds have also been somewhat erratic lately which is of some concern as I work remotely for now. I got grandfathered into this account, paying $79. month w/250G 4G data/month. It's now $249. month w/200G 4G.

Ironically, I've found Verizon Visible service faster with no 4G LTE data caps, and less expensive at $40. month? I use it for travel, and as a backup to T-Mobile to offer some insurance that I can continue teleworking should there be an outage on one network.
  • BTW, I cut the cord nearly 15 years ago. Got tired of poor customer service, and never ending increasing fees from cable operators. Too much a monopoly in my area, no incentive to improve? Have been wireless since. With a number of streaming services available, not an issue for some time now.
