Anybody ever lost the Tailgater programing in the 211k? My Dish Tailgater stopped working. I have checked all the usual stuff like check switch, new coax cable. I use a 211k receiver in the house and use the same receiver for the RV. It works in the house but does not recognize the Tailgater like it use to ie...no state location screen just right to a signal search then does not find a signal. The Tailgater worked fine the last time I used it when I put it away. The only thing that has changed is that Dish tech came out to the house and installed a new HD dish on the house and then setup the receiver for the new dish. Don't know if he could have done anything to the receiver that would affect the Tailgater. Just trying to figure out if it's the Tailgater or the 211k?

Have you tried clearing the 211k's satellite memory by running a check switch with no antenna connected?

Do you turn off the power to your tailgater each night so it has to go though a gain each day? If not the only time it should move is when it's looking for a channel and it should be quick When I am dry camping and using inverters and batteries I turn off the dish receiver when not watching TV and it went into startup each time. I think over time there would be additional wear and tear if it was to do this all the time.From what I have read there was nothing the dish installer could have done to screw up my Tailgater so I would go ahead and do the fixed dish and save the Tailgater. I am however going to check with a local Sat shop and see if they have a 211k hooked up where I can test my Tailgater on their receiver..

When it "whirrs", it is only for a few seconds, and only once in a while. It does it even when the TV is not turned on, and there is no channel changing for it to deal with.

Update. Got new Tailgater delivered by Brown truck. Hooked it up and it launched right into startup just like it should. So, I am back in business. How the old one went bad just sitting in storage I have no idea. I did read in the new litterateur that they want you to hook up the Tailgater every 3 or 4 months to make sure it keeps moving. Maybe that has something to do with the last two going bad being that both did not work coming out of storage?

I will just ad that they got rid of the old loop that was very inadequate for a security hasp and they incorporated the handle into the pod so, you can just loop your security cable through the handle. Much better, as the crooks would have to destroy the dish to get it.

I did that. That is what King Controls had me do the last time I had one that went bad so I did the same thing on this one. Even though I ordered a new one I am not ready to kick the old one in the can yet. I may pull the circuit board and have it tested to see if something burned out..

It's out of warranty so I would take the top off and check and see if the wires are still connected were the coax enters the unit.

Did voltage check and got 19.4 volts to the tailgater. I contacted King Dome and talked to a tech. His thought was that the tailgater was bad. Out of warranty so it was either send it in for repair at a cost of shipping plus repair labor and parts. Then you only get a 3 months warranty. I decided to buy a new one from CW. This time I added a 3 year warranty for instore return for $59. With my luck I may need it..

Remove coax connector from tailgater and measure voltage from center conductor to shield.

During the boot up of the Dish 211 will look for what antenna is hooked up. If a tailgator is detected it will load the setup screen for the tailgator. I would be checking voltage on the coax from the 211 to the antenna and see if your getting 13/18 volts. If so you may have a issue with the tailgator and may need to go deeper.

Yes, tried that. Went to Satellite guy in town he did not have used 211k to try so back to the drawing board. his advice was to call dish and have them walk though setup. He said they download new software all the time?

Have you tried unplugging and plugging your receive with the tailgater hooked up. When the receiver is powered up it looks to see what kind of dish is hooked up to it.

I did not watch everything he did but he put up the new Fixed HD Dish then came in the house and ran a check switch. I don't know what else he could have done. I have gone through the setup and point dish and don't see anything in there. I have run a check switch without being connected saved the setting then hooked up the tailgater and still did not recognize it ie no state location screen. Goes right to signal search and then no sats found. Connect the reciver back up to the fixed dish on the house and it works fine..
