With all the problems you have had with using computers, what are you doing with 2 operating systems?
Did the person who finally got you set up with Windows7, in place of Windows8, install the Foxfire and test the system out?
I would have stuck with Windows7 until you were absolutely sure it was working for you. If the flickering did not happen on Windows7 alone it is not a computer problem.
